Kel-Met Handcuffs on arms and legs - Fängsel för händer och fötter
Kel-Met hand and leg cuffs are personal protective equipment primarily used by law enforcement agencies such as the police or border guards, but also in intervention scenarios. They are used in situations requiring restraint of a person to ensure the safety of both the officer and the detainee. They are often used during transport or while securing individuals during arrest.
Stainless steel construction
The product is made entirely of stainless steel compliant with PN-EN 10088-1 standard. The material is non-toxic to the human body, resistant to mechanical damage, and does not cause allergic reactions. The cuffs contain no galvanic coatings such as nickel or zinc, meeting the requirements of EU directive 76/769/EEC-94/27/EEC concerning products intended for skin contact, as well as proposed national regulations.
Design and mechanism
The set includes hand cuffs connected by a 4 cm chain, leg cuffs joined by a 42 cm chain, and a 90 cm chain that connects both parts. All armor-type chains are attached using rotating connectors. The design of the cuffs reduces the risk of abrasions and injuries during proper use.
The cuffs are made of steel components with a double-pawl mechanism and a movable ratchet arm. Each cuff includes a ratchet lock that can be secured in any position to prevent excessive tightening. Protection against accidental opening is activated using a pin on the key. Pressing the pin activates the lock, and turning the key releases it.
Strength requirements
The cuffs withstand static force:
- breaking force of 2300 N – force applied in the plane of one cuff while the other is secured. The cuffs retain functionality after the force is removed.
- bending force of 500 N – force applied perpendicularly to the plane of a cuff mounted on the side where the connecting chain is attached. The force does not cause permanent deformation.
